Indian passport, visa and consular services have officially resumed across Australia, bringing relief to thousands of applicants following a service disruption that lasted for more than three weeks.
From July 23, 2026, the services are being managed by VFS Global through six upgraded Indian Consular Application Centres in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. (www.ndtv.com)
The new centres have been designed to meet growing demand, with increased counter capacity, more staff, greater appointment availability and extended hours for submitting and collecting applications.
The upgraded facilities also offer optional services including secure document courier delivery, real-time SMS updates, on-site photography and photocopying, and assistance with completing application forms.
Customer support has also been expanded, with a multilingual toll-free contact centre, 24-hour interactive voice response services and AI-powered assistance tools.
Applicants are advised to book appointments online in advance before visiting the centres, as the reopening is expected to help clear the backlog and improve access to Indian passport, visa and consular services across Australia.
