India’s Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo today for discussions aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka.

The two leaders held productive talks focused on deepening multifaceted ties built on shared history, civilisational links, and strong people-to-people connections.

Key discussions also centred on development cooperation, including the Indian Housing Project and initiatives under a US$450 million assistance package aimed at reconstruction and rehabilitation in areas affected by Cyclone Ditwah, particularly benefiting Indian Origin Tamil communities in the worst-hit regions.

Both sides further addressed issues concerning fishermen, emphasising the need for a humanitarian approach while safeguarding the livelihoods of fishing communities in both countries.
