Indian plane crashes into medical college dormitory

Initial reports confirm that an Air India flight has crashed into the UG hostel building of BJ Medical College in Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad.

There are serious concerns that the crash has resulted in multiple fatalities, including both passengers and people on the ground.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787-8, which had taken off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 a.m. local time.

A total of 242 passengers and crew were on board at the time of the incident.

Among the passengers, 169 were Indian nationals and 53 were British nationals.

The flight also included one Canadian and seven Portuguese nationals, according to foreign media reports.

Authorities are currently assessing the situation, and rescue operations are underway at the crash site.
