Indian auto industry delegation visits Sri Lanka to boost ties

An 18-member delegation from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) visited Sri Lanka for two days to enhance collaboration and development in the automobile industry between the two countries.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka stated that the delegation’s visit, held from March 17-18, 2025, aimed to strengthen the economic partnership between India and Sri Lanka.

Representatives from leading Indian vehicle manufacturers, spanning commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, were part of the delegation.

During their visit, they met with Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunneththi, and Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe to discuss industry growth and cooperation.

Additionally, they engaged with senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), and members of the Ceylon Motor Traders Association.

The delegation also met Deputy High Commissioner of India, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, to brief him on the operations of Indian automobile companies in Sri Lanka.
