
Indian High Commissioner in Colombo Santhosh Jha said today that India and Sri Lanka have emerged as a global model for cooperation between neighbouring countries, highlighting significant progress in physical and energy connectivity between the two nations.
He made these remarks at a reception held at India House to mark India’s Republic Day.
Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, who attended the event as the chief guest, underscored the importance of continued mutual cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.
He also recalled that India was the first country to extend assistance to Sri Lanka when the island was affected by Cyclone Ditwah last year.
