
The Government of India has announced 200 fully funded scholarships exclusively for Sri Lankan nationals for the 2025–2026 academic session.
scholarships are available for studies in prestigious Indian institutes and universities across various fields, excluding Medical/Paramedical, Fashion Design, and Law courses.
key scholarship schemes are being offered:
- Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme: Covers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD courses in Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, Humanities, and Arts.
- Maulana Azad Scholarship Scheme: Focused on Master’s degree programs, with priority given to Engineering, Science, and Agriculture.
- Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme: Specifically for Undergraduate courses in Information Technology, including Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Technology.
- Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme: Covers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD courses in various domains similar to the Nehru Memorial Scheme.
The scholarships include full tuition fees, a monthly sustenance allowance, an annual grant for books and stationery, airfare, and grants for educational tours within India. Hostel facilities are also provided on campus.
The Government of India selects meritorious Sri Lankan students for these scholarships in consultation with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education.
