India pledges more aid following PM Modi’s discussion with SL president

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone on Monday with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, offering condolences over the lives lost and the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

During the conversation, PM Modi reaffirmed that the people of India stand firmly with Sri Lanka in this moment of crisis. He assured that India would continue its support under Operation Sagar Bandhu, helping with rescue efforts, relief operations, and the restoration of essential services.

President Dissanayake expressed profound gratitude for India’s rapid and generous response, including the deployment of rescue teams and the delivery of critical emergency supplies. He conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of the Sri Lankan people for India’s timely assistance.

PM Modi further emphasized that India, guided by its Vision MAHASAGAR and its role as the region’s first responder, will extend all necessary support in the days ahead.

Both leaders agreed to stay in close contact as recovery efforts continue.
