UNESCO support is currently being mobilised to assess the damage to World Heritage Sites caused by Cyclone Ditwah, the Daily Mirror reports.
The assessment aims to determine the type and extent of support required to restore the affected sites.
However, no detailed damage assessments have yet been published for individual UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Sigiriya, Dambulla Cave Temple, the Sacred City of Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sinharaja Forest Reserve, or the Central Highlands, specifically in relation to Cyclone Ditwah.
Communication between Sri Lanka and UNESCO is ongoing regarding this matter.
