Heavy traffic in Colombo 2 as opposition’s “Against Repression” protest march takes place

Heavy traffic congestion has been reported along several roads near the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court due to the ongoing protest.

According to Ada Derana reporters, several political party leaders have joined the protest march under the theme “Against Repression.”

Traffic movement in parts of Slave Island has been restricted, while security forces have cordoned off the road leading to the court premises, allowing only limited entry.

Ada Derana cameras also captured footage of opposition protestors attempting to break through police barricades on Barracks Lane in an effort to reach the court.

In response, security has been heightened with the deployment of water cannon vehicles, riot control units, police officers, and members of the Police Special Task Force.
