A health warning has been issued for the Gold Coast following two confirmed cases of the highly infectious Measles.
Gold Coast Health raised the alert after the individuals unknowingly contracted the virus overseas before returning to Australia.
Several exposure sites have been identified, including Hillsong Church Gold Coast, Robina Town Centre, ALDI Robina, and multiple medical facilities.
Health authorities have advised anyone who visited these locations to monitor for symptoms for up to three weeks from the date of exposure.
Common symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes, and a red, blotchy rash.
The disease spreads easily through airborne droplets and can lead to serious complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis, sometimes requiring hospitalisation.
In Australia, two doses of the measles vaccine are provided to children under the National Immunisation Program, offering long-term protection against the virus.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and seek medical advice if symptoms develop after visiting any of the listed exposure sites.
