Health ministry ramps Up PCR testing as COVID threat resurfaces

In response to the global threat of a new COVID-19 variant, the Health Ministry has increased PCR testing at selected hospitals across Sri Lanka.

Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe announced that hospitals with PCR testing capabilities have been placed on high alert to quickly identify potential COVID-19 cases.

He made these remarks during a press briefing held at the Health Ministry on the 28th.

Dr. Jasinghe also stated that hospitals have been instructed to strengthen monitoring of patients admitted with fever or flu-like symptoms.

While Sri Lanka remains vigilant and continues to monitor the evolving global situation, the Health Ministry does not currently plan to reintroduce any immediate restrictions.
