
Sri Lanka’s Minister of Health and Mass Media, Nalinda Jayatissa, led a delegation to India from 17th of December to 19th of December to attend the 2nd WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit in New Delhi, the High Commission of India in Colombo said.
The summit was held at Bharat Mandapam under the theme “Restoring Balance: The Science and Practice of Health and Well-Being” and was jointly organised by the World Health Organization and India’s Ministry of Ayush.
During the summit, Minister Jayatissa took part in a ministerial roundtable and delivered remarks highlighting Sri Lanka’s long-standing traditions and experience in Ayurveda and other traditional healing practices.
While in India, the Minister held bilateral discussions with India’s Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, and Minister of State with independent charge of the Ministry of Ayush, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in healthcare and traditional medicine, including regulatory collaboration, research partnerships and capacity-building initiatives.
On the sidelines of the programme, Minister Jayatissa also visited Apollo Hospitals to study public–private partnership healthcare models and review best practices in healthcare delivery.
