Former President Maithripala Sirisena has rejected repeated Opposition claims that the Government will collapse soon, insisting that the current administration remains politically stable.
He stated that predictions about an imminent fall are part of normal Opposition rhetoric, but emphasized that a Government supported by 159 Members of Parliament cannot be easily brought down. “Toppling a Government backed by such a strong parliamentary majority is not a simple task,” he said.
Sirisena made these remarks while addressing the media after attending a ceremonial event, stressing that parliamentary strength continues to play a decisive role in maintaining political stability.
