A decision has been made to establish Internal Affairs Units in all government institutions to ensure effective public service delivery.
The Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, has issued the relevant circular outlining this initiative.
The primary goal of these units is to prevent corruption, promote integrity, ensure transparency and accountability, and uphold ethical governance.
They will also collaborate with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in law enforcement efforts.
As a first step, the Internal Affairs Units will be established in all Cabinet Ministries, Provincial Chief Secretary offices, and Divisional Secretariats.
A written directive has been sent to Ministry Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries, and District Secretaries to implement this initiative.
