Leader of the House Minister Bimal Rathnayake told Parliament that the government will appoint a Special Presidential Commission, comprising sitting Supreme Court judges, to investigate coal procurement from 2009 to 2025/26.
He said the commission will examine all coal purchases during this period, amid allegations and concerns regarding procurement procedures and pricing.
Rathnayake added that the move is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the coal procurement process.
