Govt resumes Kurinchakerny bridge with Saudi funds

The Sri Lankan government has decided to restart the construction of the Kurinchakerny Bridge in Kinniya to address the transportation needs of thousands in the area.

The Ministry of Finance announced that $10.5 million has been allocated for the project, benefiting around 100,000 residents in the Kinniya Divisional Secretariat Division in Trincomalee.

A revised agreement was signed between Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana and Saudi Fund for Development’s Director (Legal), Abdulmohsen A. Almudla, to allocate remaining funds from another project.

These funds are being transferred from the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Road Development Project to the Road Network Development Project for the construction of the Kurinchakerny Bridge.

The bridge is expected to address many transportation challenges and boost local business and connectivity.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents in the region.
