
ThePut the and Mass Media announced the establishment of Primary Care Community Centers across the island to improve access to quality primary health care services.
Each center is expected to serve nearly 10,000 people, ensuring more efficient healthcare delivery at the community level.
In the first phase of the project, 2,000 centers will be set up over the next three years.
The Ministry confirmed that 100 centers will be opened this year to kick-start the program, with each staffed by eight personnel.
A special workshop for Public Health Nursing Officers was held on Saturday (26th) at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute to raise awareness about the project.
Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, who chaired the workshop, emphasized the initiative as a vital move toward strengthening the nation’s health system.
