Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Ports, Aviation, Transport, and Highways has launched a major digitization initiative to modernize operations across its affiliated institutions.
The program was officially introduced during a high-level discussion at Parliament on March 19, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving efficiency through technology.
The meeting was chaired by Minister Bimal Ratnayake, alongside Deputy Ministers Janitha Kodithuwakku (Ports and Aviation) and Eranga Weeraratne (Digital Economy). Senior Advisor to the President Dr. Hans Wijesuriya, the Ministry Secretary, and advisors from the Ministry of Digital Economy also participated.
Discussions focused on evaluating existing digital infrastructure and identifying further technological needs for institutions such as the National Transport Commission, Sri Lanka Transport Board, Sri Lanka Railways, Airport and Aviation Services, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Road Development Authority.
According to the ministry, integrating advanced digital solutions will help streamline operations, enhance service delivery, and drive the sector towards a more technology-driven future.
