Since its launch, the GovPay digital platform has processed payments exceeding Rs. 285 million, Digital Economy Minister Eranga Weerarathne stated.
Addressing the media, the Minister described GovPay as a successful initiative, noting that 137 institutions, including government agencies, are already connected to the platform.
“Two weeks ago, all government institutions in the Southern Province were linked to GovPay. A similar rollout has been carried out in the Northern Province, and efforts are underway to expand coverage to the Central Province as well,” he added.
The Minister highlighted that the initiative is encouraging greater adoption of digital payment methods among the public.
GovPay has also been introduced for paying traffic fines in the Western Province and on expressways, with plans to extend the system to three more provinces before covering the remaining regions.
