Government’s anti-corruption drive commendable, but politicization a concern: Harsha de Silva

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Harsha de Silva, opening the budget debate, said he supports the government’s anti-corruption drive but warned that it should not be driven by political motives.

Citing examples such as the sugar import scam, the release of 323 containers, and the e-visa fraud, he questioned what action had been taken against those responsible.

Dr. de Silva also acknowledged the achievement of macroeconomic stability but emphasized that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the current government could not claim sole credit for it.

He added that recognition should be given to those who had worked toward stabilizing the economy before the present administration took office.
