Sri Lanka’s entire transport system is set to undergo a major transformation with the introduction of a hub-and-spoke model.
Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, announced the upcoming changes during a media briefing.
Under the new model, both public and private buses will operate according to a unified timetable.
The government plans to identify main cities as hubs and designate feeding routes to connect surrounding areas.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the private sector will be required to comply with the joint timetable policy.
He stated that this is a key government initiative aimed at improving transport efficiency and coordination.
