
The government plans to expand the “Suwa Seriya” ambulance fleet to 500 vehicles by incorporating the latest technologies, according to Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
He made these remarks while addressing a special training program organized to improve the skills of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) at the Suwa Seriya Foundation.
The Minister noted that plans are already in motion to modernize the ambulance service through the integration of advanced global technologies.
Jayatissa further revealed that discussions are underway with the Indian government to procure an additional 100 ambulances. He added that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is expected to provide 20 ambulances under loan assistance and another 25 as a grant.
