The government is focusing on setting up additional laboratories for medicine testing, according to Health Ministry and Mass Media Secretary, Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
He acknowledged that while medical tests are conducted when complaints arise about medicines, the current testing capacity is inadequate.
To address this, the government plans to establish one or two more laboratories to enhance testing capabilities.
Dr. Jasinghe noted that although Sri Lanka is a small country, its health and medical systems are more extensive and complex compared to many other nations.
These steps aim to ensure the safety and quality of medicines available in the country.
The initiative highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure.
