The Ministry of Public Administration has announced that all government institutions will be required to hoist the national flag for one week in honor of Independence Day.
In a bid to reduce electricity costs and conserve energy, the ministry has reiterated its directive for the suspension of decorative lighting during the celebrations.
To ensure safety and security for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, a total of 1,650 police and Special Task Force members have been deployed.
The police have also put in place a special traffic plan to ensure smooth movement during the parades and the main event, minimizing disruptions to vehicular flow and public convenience.
The 77th National Independence Day celebration is set to be held tomorrow at Independence Square in Colombo, with the President presiding over the event.
However, this year’s celebration will notably not feature the traditional Presidential salute.
