Government & Adani to revisit scrapped SL project next week

Adani Green Energy reaffirmed its commitment to Sri Lanka, stating that while it is withdrawing from the current project, it remains open to future development opportunities if invited by the Sri Lankan government.

Following Adani Green Energy’s decision to withdraw from its wind energy project in Mannar, both the Indian and Sri Lankan sides are expected to hold further discussions next week, suggesting the deal may still be reconsidered.

Despite its withdrawal, Adani Green Energy emphasized its respect for Sri Lanka’s sovereign decisions and expressed gratitude for the engagement opportunity.

The unexpected leak of Adani’s withdrawal letter caused turmoil within Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry, prompting an investigation into how the confidential document reached the media before official channels were informed.

While Adani Green Energy’s exit marks the second major foreign investment withdrawal from Sri Lanka in recent months, discussions for potential renegotiation of the wind energy project are reportedly still on the table.
