The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has called on the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to urgently investigate a forged letter and false social media posts aimed at damaging the union’s reputation.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa revealed that a fake document, bearing his forged e-signature and a counterfeit GMOA letterhead, is being circulated online.
The forged letter falsely links the GMOA to the recent arrest of a Consultant Neurosurgeon by the Bribery Commission (CIABOC), according to Dr. Sugathadasa.
He emphasized that the GMOA does not interfere with disciplinary or legal proceedings and only advocates for the fair application of due process.
Dr. Sugathadasa expressed concern that the forged content was created by individuals with vested interests seeking to harm the association’s public standing.
Highlighting the GMOA’s representation of the majority of government doctors, he warned that such malicious actions could erode public trust in the organization.
The GMOA requested the CID to take immediate steps to identify and prosecute those responsible for the forgery.
Additionally, the GMOA asked for an appointment with the CID to further discuss the matter and ensure a thorough investigation.
