Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka has officially stepped down from the three-member committee appointed to investigate a complaint against MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.

Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramanayake made the announcement during the opening of the parliamentary session on June 6.

To fill the vacancy, Attorney-at-Law and MP Rauff Hakeem has been named as Karunathilaka’s replacement on the committee.
