Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Udaya Gammanpila, announced that he will be releasing a set of documents yesterday (9th of June) concerning the unauthorized release of 323 containers from customs without proper inspection.
Speaking to the media, Gammanpila stated that this marks the sixth such public disclosure he has made, emphasizing that none of his previous revelations have been denied by the government.
He stressed that all his claims are backed by credible evidence and warned the authorities against targeting him over minor technicalities or wording, asserting that he would not be intimidated.
Gammanpila also alleged that certain officials linked to the incident are planning to flee the country and urged the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to impose travel bans on them.
Earlier in the day, he appeared before the CID to provide a statement regarding the ongoing investigation into the customs container release.
