
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced today (30th) that strict laws will be introduced to curb supermarket price increases.
Speaking at an election campaign event in Canberra, he stated that his government would enforce the recommendations made by the Australian Consumer Commission (ACCC) to control rising retail prices.
Additionally, the Food & Grocery Code will become mandatory from 1st of April ensuring stricter regulations.
Supermarkets that violate these laws will face severe penalties.
