Former Navy Commander, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, was arrested today by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
He had previously been summoned by CIABOC in connection with an investigation into the recruitment of Yoshitha Rajapaksa as an Executive Officer in the Sri Lanka Navy and his subsequent training at the Britannia Royal Naval College.
Karannagoda had earlier failed to appear before the Commission, citing illness.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa was also arrested last month and later released on bail. However, CIABOC has not yet confirmed whether Karannagoda’s arrest is directly linked to the same investigation.
