Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne remanded

Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne has been ordered to be remanded by the Colombo High Court following a hearing today (29th) in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The court noted that a warrant for Senaratne’s arrest had already been issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. Considering this, the High Court set a future date for the continuation of the case and directed that Senaratne be handed over to prison authorities and produced before the Magistrate’s Court.

This follows a petition filed by Senaratne seeking to suspend the arrest warrant. His legal counsel assured the court that the former minister would appear before the Magistrate’s Court without fail, in accordance with legal procedures.
