Former minister Mervyn Silva remanded in custody

The Mahara Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of former Minister Mervyn Silva and three others until 17th of March .

He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last night (March 5th) at his residence in Battaramulla, Pelawatte.

According to the Police Media Division, the former minister was taken into custody on charges of preparing forged documents and illegally selling a plot of land in the Kelaniya area.

The land in question had been acquired by the government in 2010 for the construction of the new town of Kiribathgoda.
