Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has been arrested by Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

He was taken into custody after appearing before the Commission on Tuesday to give a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Authorities allege that four employees recruited to the Office of the President’s Senior Advisor were assigned to carry out his personal work.
The investigation is continuing, and further legal proceedings are expected.
