A 25-year-old food delivery rider has been hospitalised following a violent and random attack in Melbourne’s south-east.
The man was riding his e-scooter along a path in Carnegie last night when he was ambushed and stabbed multiple times in the arm.
“He said someone jumped out from the darkness and stabbed him several times,” a witness told reporters, adding that the victim was visibly shaken and frightened.
After the stabbing, the attacker fled the scene on the victim’s e-scooter. Local residents rushed to the rider’s aid before emergency services arrived.
The victim, a Murrumbeena resident, was taken to hospital and underwent surgery on his arm.
Police launched an extensive search in the area overnight. While the crime scene has been cleared, the suspect remains at large.
Authorities believe the attacker fled towards Murrumbeena station and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect.
