Five teens arrested over stabbing of father and son in Melbourne

Five teenagers, some as young as 14, have been arrested after a father and son were stabbed during a violent altercation in Melbourne’s Southbank precinct early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Yarra Promenade just before 2 a.m. following reports of a brawl. Police said the victims — a 47-year-old father and his 23-year-old son — were walking with family members when a group of teenagers bumped into one of them, sparking an argument that escalated into violence.

Both victims were stabbed during the altercation and were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The five teenagers, aged between 14 and 17, allegedly fled the scene but were arrested shortly afterward. They remain in police custody and are expected to be interviewed regarding the incident.

No charges have yet been laid, and police are urging anyone with information or footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
