At least five people have died and 41 remain missing after a passenger ferry caught fire off Madura Island in Indonesia while carrying 271 passengers and crew.
Rescue teams have so far saved 225 people, with search operations continuing for those still unaccounted for.
The ferry, Mutiara Sentosa 2, was travelling from Surabaya in East Java to Makassar in South Sulawesi when the blaze broke out.
Thick smoke and flames forced many passengers to jump into the sea wearing life jackets as nearby vessels rushed to assist.
Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency has deployed rescue boats and emergency teams, while the Indonesian Navy is assisting with the operation.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and an investigation is underway.
