

Sri Lanka recorded its highest-ever monthly export earnings in April 2026, with total export revenue reaching USD 1.38 billion, reflecting a 6% year-on-year increase.

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) Chairman and CEO Mangala Wijesinghe said the milestone demonstrates the resilience of local exporters in overcoming global challenges while continuing to support economic growth.
According to the EDB, merchandise exports rose by 9.8% year-on-year to USD 1,063.77 million, driven by strong performance across key export sectors.
Services exports were also estimated at USD 317 million for the month, further strengthening overall export performance.
Officials added that total exports for the period from January to April 2026 reached USD 5.78 billion, reflecting a 4.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
