
The expert committee investigating the passport crisis has submitted its report to the relevant minister.
Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, stated that the report will be presented to the Cabinet next week.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, the government will decide whether to modify the current passport issuance process.
At present, approximately 2,900 passports are issued daily across the country.
The Minister highlighted ongoing efforts to increase this number to meet growing demand.
The government aims to streamline passport services and improve efficiency through potential reforms.
