Expert committee formed to enhance UNIVOTEC courses

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has appointed a six-member expert committee to review and improve the academic courses at the University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC) in Ratmalana.

The committee’s main task is to provide recommendations to the Minister to enhance course quality, ensuring alignment with both national and international standards. The appointments were made by the Ministry Secretary, Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa.

The committee comprises the following members:

  • Dr. Janaka Jayalath – Chairman, Member of the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education
  • Prof. Thushara Chaminda – Member, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna
  • Prof. J.C.N. Rajendra – Member, Council Member of the University of Vocational Technology
  • Dr. K.A. Lalithatheera – Member, Director General, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission
  • Eng. S.B. Anura Deshapriya Semasinghe – Member, Chief Executive Officer, Central Engineering Services (Private) Ltd., Sri Lanka/Abu Dhabi
  • Himali W.K. Athaudage – Convener, Additional Secretary, Vocational Education Division, Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education

The committee will submit detailed suggestions and recommendations to strengthen UNIVOTEC’s courses and ensure they meet international educational standards.
