Sales of Tesla vehicles have declined significantly across Europe following a controversial statement by CEO Elon Musk.
Media reports suggest that consumer demand for Tesla dropped after Musk announced on live television that he would lead Germany’s AFD party. The statement sparked backlash, affecting Tesla’s reputation in key European markets.
According to research data, new Tesla car registrations in Germany have plummeted by approximately 60% year-on-year. In France, sales have fallen by 63%, while Sweden has seen a 44% decline.
Tesla’s demand has also dropped by 38% in Norway, 42% in the Netherlands, and 40% in the United Kingdom.
Additionally, the rising popularity of other electric vehicle brands in Europe may be contributing to Tesla’s declining market share.
