Travellers flying across Europe could soon enjoy cheaper airfares under major new passenger rights reforms.

The European Union has approved new rules that would stop airlines from charging extra for standard carry-on luggage included within size and weight limits.

The reforms also require airlines to clearly display ticket prices, including baggage costs, making fares more transparent for passengers.

Families with young children and passengers with disabilities will also gain stronger seating rights without additional charges.

The changes are expected to take effect from 2027 after the final legislative process, marking one of the biggest overhauls of European air passenger rights in more than two decades.
