Energy Minister Kumara Jayakodi has revoked the one-year service extension granted to Pubudu Niroshan, Director General of the Power Sector Reforms Secretariat, by Ministry Secretary Udayanga Hemapala, highlighting apparent differences within the government.
Mr. Niroshan was initially appointed to the post by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for a one-year term, which concluded on 15th of October 2025. Although the Ministry Secretary had extended his tenure for an additional year, the Minister cancelled the extension, asserting that the authority to approve such appointments rests solely with him.
