Electricity tariffs likely to rise by 6.8%

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has proposed a 6.8% increase in electricity tariffs for the final quarter of 2025, according to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).

The PUCSL announced that it will seek public opinion on the proposed tariff amendments. Members of the public may submit their comments and suggestions in writing to the Commission.

In addition, nine public consultation sessions will be held across all provinces to obtain verbal submissions, beginning on 18th September 2025.

The PUCSL further stated that written feedback on the third electricity tariff revision for 2025 can be submitted before October 7, 2025, through the following methods:
