
Eight children were killed in a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Sunday morning, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
Police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance on West 79th Street shortly after 6 a.m., where they discovered an extensive crime scene spanning multiple locations, including nearby Harrison Street.
Authorities reported that ten people were shot in total, with eight fatalities involving children aged between 1 and 14 years.
According to police spokesperson Christopher Bordelon, the suspect fled the scene and carried out a carjacking before leading officers on a chase. The pursuit ended in Bossier Parish, where officers shot and killed the suspect.
Investigators believe the suspect acted alone, and some of the victims were reportedly related to him. However, the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux described the incident as one of the most tragic events in the city’s history, noting that the community is grieving deeply.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
