Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has pledged to address Australia’s ongoing housing crisis if elected to power.
Speaking at a campaign event in Melbourne’s McEwen electorate this morning (06), Dutton announced plans to build 500,000 new homes across the country.
He stated that a future Liberal Alliance government would allocate $5 billion towards this initiative, aimed at restoring hope for young Australians struggling to achieve home ownership.
Dutton expressed concern that the dream of owning a home is slipping out of reach for many, particularly the younger generation.
As part of the opposition’s proposed housing policy, restrictions on international student numbers are also being considered to ease housing demand.
