Dudley Sirisena hints at bringing latest helicopter to Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan business tycoon Dudley Sirisena has reignited interest in the country’s aviation sector by suggesting that a brand-new helicopter could soon be introduced in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the Singapore Airshow 2026, Sirisena expressed his hope of turning his long-standing dream of bringing a modern helicopter to the country into reality in the near future.

He made these remarks during an interview with a YouTube channel at the exhibition, emphasizing that he closely follows developments in helicopter technology and has been a regular attendee of the Singapore Airshow over the years.

Asia’s largest aviation event, which began on Tuesday (3), brought together more than 1,000 companies for the 10th edition of the biennial show. Major global players such as Airbus and Boeing participated, alongside regional firms like ST Engineering and emerging drone-focused defense companies, including Anduril Industries and Shield AI.
