The Guru Prathibha Prabha 2025 awards ceremony in Colombo honored 173 principals for their outstanding dedication to education.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amaraseuriya emphasized that enhancing the quality of education requires addressing systemic challenges and professionally supporting school principals through fair salaries and career development opportunities.

She outlined plans to improve teacher training, fill long-standing vacancies, digitize school administration, and upgrade infrastructure, aiming to ensure that all secondary schools have proper digital connectivity and facilities by the end of the year. While acknowledging that not all reforms can be implemented immediately, the Prime Minister assured that these measures will be carried out promptly to strengthen Sri Lanka’s education system.
