A 40-year-old doctor has been arrested for sexually abusing a 26-year-old woman at the Wethara District Hospital in Kahathuduwa.
According to the police complaint, the woman had first visited the hospital’s Out Patients’ Department (OPD) on 12th of November for treatment, where she was instructed to undergo a urine test and return on November 19.
Police said that when she returned with the test report on 19th of November the doctor took her into a room without the presence of a female assistant and allegedly sexually abused her under the guise of conducting a medical examination.
The doctor was arrested today after both parties were summoned for an inquiry.
