Diplomats donate Rs 3.6 million to support Sri Lanka’s cyclone-affected families

The diplomatic corps in Sri Lanka have made a private and heartfelt contribution of Rs. 3.6 million from their own salaries to support Sri Lankans affected by the devastating natural disasters caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The donation was officially handed over to Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath on Thursday (11) by Dewi Gustina Tobing, the Indonesian Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, together with diplomats from the Maldives, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland, Palestine, and Oman. This gesture, made from their personal income rather than official funds, reflects a genuine and compassionate commitment to the people of Sri Lanka during this challenging time.
