Under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s digitalization initiative, a new program was launched yesterday (6th) to enable Sri Lankans living abroad to obtain birth, marriage, and death certificates without delays through diplomatic missions.
The initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Employment, and Ministry of Tourism, was officially inaugurated by Minister Vijitha Herath.
Initially, the pilot project will be available at seven missions: the embassies in Japan, Qatar, and Kuwait, along with consulates in Milan, Toronto, Melbourne, and Dubai.
The program is expected to expand to all Sri Lankan missions worldwide in the future.
This digital platform aims to streamline access to vital civil documents for expatriates, providing greater convenience and reducing processing delays.
